If you have just got your tape-in extensions or you want to make them last longer this is the blog for you! Over the last couple of years, women all over the world have fallen in love with tape-in extensions. Why? They are lightweight, easy to use and suit a lot of hair types. I like to think of my Cliphair extensions like an investment and, as such, I want them to last a long time. To make that happen you will need to know how to reuse them effectively and take care of them. That is exactly what I want to share with you today so keep reading and, as always, #wearcliphair.
Step number 1: Take them out
If you are feeling like it is plaster on your scalp being ripped off, you are doing it wrong. I am begging you please use your hair oil for this. Cliphair even has a specialist tape remover that can help you will this process so it stays incredibly simple. Separate your hair to expose the tape then spray the tape remover on and leave for about a minute. Give yourself a good scalp massage as you rub it in with your finger. Now gently pull the two pieces of tape apart. The oil will also help with any residue so now you can shampoo and conditioner as usual.
Step number 2: Get rid of the tape
Now the extensions are out of your hair it is time to move to the bathroom and sort your extensions out. Pinch your extensions just below your tape and slowly peel the tape off the roots with the other. Try to get the tape off in one piece so that the ends don’t get hidden. Playing find the end of the tape can take a bit of time. If the roots are sticky that is fine. It will ensure that your new tape sticks on easily.
Step number 3: Clean your extensions
There is a big no-no in this step and that is letting the hairs separate at the roots. You need to keep them together with a clip or holding them. This is because you need to keep the hairs level for when you reapply your tape. If you don’t your extensions won’t look as good as you want them too. Make sure you give the rest of your extensions a good wash, they may have some oil in them or product buildup. Once they have air-dried overnight you are ready to put the tape back on.
Step number 4: Put your tape on
The final, and most important, step is here. It is not hard to do at all. The main thing is making sure that you have your tapes lined up. Doing this with your extensions lying down is the best and make sure your tape is stretched out flat. You need to cut your tape do so after you have it attached to your extensions so you have the size right. That is it! When you put them back in your own hair I would always ask a professional to attach them for the best result.
